The fact that Atreyu is confident that he can succeed means that you should always strive to achieve your hopes and dreams. Atreyu didn’t give up even when he could have died. The NeverEnding Story is full of symbolism which is shown by many details in the movie. The mode for this movie is romance.
Symbolism can be shown in many different ways, and in The NeverEnding Story that is true. Atreyu, the main character is symbolic because he is a child; children are symbolic because they show innocence and purity. The Nothing on the other hand symbolizes eternal death and disbelief. It was Atreyu’s job to stop the Nothing and save Fantasia.
On the other hand the Auryn symbolizes dreaming and healing. When Bastian reads the book he is “healed” from the things that have happened to him. The Auryn also helps Atreyu heal and protects him from harm. When Atreyu lost the Auryn he became hurt, but when Falkor returned it to him he felt stronger.
The mode of this movie is romance. The mild conflict is that Fantasia is being destroyed. Bastian, the young boy realizes that it is up to him to save Fantasia. After Atreyu and Bastian realize that they need to help each other to save the world of fantasy, they work together to save everyone. The movie is romance because of all of the symbolism.
Throughout the whole story this movie is full of symbolism. Atreyu, the nothing, fantasia, and the childlike empress are all very symbolic. The NeverEnding Story is full of symbolism which is shown by the many details throughout the movie because it is a romance.
